Lonesome George, the last surviving of the Pinta Island subspecies of giant Galapagos tortoise, has come up short on producing any offspring. Lonesome George was paired with two females and a number of eggs were laid but none of them contained embryos. Lonesome George is just 90-years-old so if he is not infertile then he might have more chances at fertilizing a viable egg. A Telegrapharticle gives hope that the infertile eggs could have been the result of a diet or captivity issue.
