Video: Haboob Hits Phoenix, Knocks Out Power and Delays Flights

A massive dust storm, also known as a haboob, rolled through Phoenix on Tuesday, July 5. NOAA describes a haboob as a "violent dust or sandstorm occurring on the southwest deserts of Arizona. It depicts the leading edge, or gust front, of an approaching storm, and wind speeds can exceed 60 mph."
ABC 15 reports that crews are busy repairing power to customers left in the dark by the dust storm. The dust storm was accompanied by strong winds, which knocked out power. CNN reports that the dust storm delayed flights out of Phoenix.
