Creator of Tribble-like Robot Named Lovotics Says Bot Was Programmed With the Ability to Love

Posted on July 31, 2011

Hooman Samani, artificial intelligence researcher in Keio-NUS CUTE Center, has come up with Lovotics, a white Tribble-like robot that he claims has the ability to love and be loved by humans.

It looks like a simple toy, but the technology inside it is more complex according to the Lovotics website. The robot uses its internal sensors and cameras to try and increase the probability of love with a human. The robot has a psychological unit that "calculates probabilistic parameters of love between humans and the robot" and an affective system that "analyzes system inputs to generate suitable states and behaviors for the robot in real-time."
